For the past 34 years, the PEI Science Fair in Charlottetown has been drawing students from across the Island, all eager to present their projects, experiments, and innovations to judges and the public. UPEI has hosted the Science Fair in the Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre since 2002.  More than 300 young scientists display their science projects each year. Science Fair judges look for originality, creativity, and, most importantly, scientific thought. The PEI Science Fair awards numerous prizes donated by its many sponsors. Selected projects from the intermediate and senior divisions are entered in the nationwide competition. The event is the volunteer effort of hundreds of people including teachers, parents, students, judges, mentors, the organizing committee members, and sponsors.
