Since 1984, UPEI’s local WUSC committee has helped 17 refugee students continue their education in a safe environment. WUSC (World University Service Canada) is dedicated to improving the lives of people in developing countries through education, connecting post-secondary students, faculty and leaders through:
-more than 70 WUSC local committees across Canada
-its Student Refugee Program, which helps refugee students from developing countries to continue their studies in Canada
-Uniterra, which mobilizes students to help achieve Millennium Development Goals through education, advocacy and volunteering
-overseas learning opportunities including an International Seminar and Students Without Borders™, an innovative program that enables students to apply their academic knowledge to a work environment in the developing world while, in most cases, earning credits
-managing scholarships for students from the South who are enrolled at Canadian universities and colleges.
